Inspired Learning Group (ILG) is delighted to announce it has acquired Derby Grammar School. Derby Grammar School is a selective independent school originally founded as Derby School in 1160 and educates girls and boys between the ages of 4 and 18.

Through this partnership, Derby Grammar School will join the ILG family and will benefit from significant investment in enhancing the school’s facilities and professional development opportunities and build on its existing high standards of teaching and learning.

The governors decided to seek a long term, sustainable solution to enable Derby Grammar School to continue with its development plans for the school. After careful consideration and a thorough process, ILG was chosen as the ideal partner for the school, due to its shared vision, values and strong track record in providing a world-class education.

Inspired Learning Group is comprised of 24 independent schools and nurseries, and over 1,000 staff supporting over 3,000 pupils with a strong Advisory Board, chaired by David Tidmarsh, former Headmaster of St Martin’s, Northwood.

Inspired Learning Group will be working closely with the Head, Mr Paul Logan, and his team to support them in delivering their vision to offer Derby Grammar School pupils the best possible learning experience and outcomes.

Commenting on the partnership, Mr Logan said:

“Visitors to Derby Grammar School are struck by its warmth, family feel and sense of community. Staff are committed to promoting the well-being and ensuring excellent all round intellectual development of all our pupils. We are proud of our academic achievements and our extensive extra and co-curricular programmes.

All of our decisions have been made with the best interests of our school community in mind, and I am excited that we are about to embark on this new chapter as part of the ILG family.”

Derby Grammar School will officially become part of ILG on the 28th March 2024.
