Inspired Learning Group acquires historic Shebbear College in north Devon
Inspired Learning Group (ILG), has acquired Shebbear College, an 85-acre school in north Devon, from Methodist Independent Schools Trust (MIST). Founded in 1841, the school continues to provide an exceptional education for pupils aged from 4 to 18.
Shebbear College will join the ILG family and will benefit from significant investment in enhancing the school’s facilities, professional development opportunities, and existing high standards of teaching and learning; including expansion of the already excellent boarding provision for the long-term future.
The governors and MIST sought a long term, sustainable solution to enable Shebbear College to continue with its development plans. After careful consideration and a thorough process, ILG was chosen as the ideal partner for the school, due to its shared vision, values and strong track record in providing a world-class education. Shebbear College has been recognised for providing a highly nurturing environment where kindness, cooperation and community are essential components of life at the school.
Inspired Learning Group is comprised of 25 independent schools and nurseries, supporting over 3,000 pupils within the UK with a strong team of experienced consultants and an Advisory Board, chaired by David Tidmarsh, former Headmaster of St Martin’s, Northwood, and including Neil Roskilly, previous Chief Executive of the Independent Schools Association. Inspired Learning Group will be working closely with the Head, Mr Charlie Jenkins, and his team to support them in delivering their vision to offer Shebbear College pupils the best possible learning experience and outcomes.
