Based in Warlingham, Surrey, Warlingham Park Preparatory School is a truly inclusive, co-educational independent school for children aged 2 to11 years. With the start of a new Head of School in September, we are seeking to appoint an outstanding Key Stage1/2 teacher to join our motivated and happy team, who is able to bring a genuine love of teaching and learning, and a commitment to pupil wellbeing and wider school life. Applications are welcome from experienced teachers or those starting their career.

The successful candidate will be a Form Teacher and will teach a range of core and foundation subjects across the curriculum, looking after the academic and pastoral needs of each child.

Candidates should have QTS and have experience of working with the KS1 or KS2 curriculum. An ability to teach a modern language or Latin would be desirable but not essential.. The successful teacher will show a genuine commitment to creating an inspiring and stimulating child-centred learning environment and will embrace our vision of developing the use of innovation. The role

• To teach well planned and interesting lessons, which are appropriate to the level of all pupils

• To be responsible for the pastoral wellbeing of children in their form.

• To stretch our most able pupils and support those who need it.

• To use effective assessment to ensure that all children make excellent progress.

• To track the progress of the pupils they teach to identify any gaps in knowledge.

• To communicating effectively with parents about the progress of their child through regular updates and written reports.

• To attend parent/teacher meetings

• To undertake duties such as playground, prep lesson cover if required

• To participate in the the extra-curricular programme as required

• To attend and contributing to general staff meetings.

• To embrace CPD and INSET as required

The person will

• A qualified teacher who has completed appropriate QTS teacher training

• Be confident about teaching a broad range of subjects within the KS1 and 2 curriculum.

• Have experience of teaching Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2

• Share the school’s values

• Meet all of the DfE Teachers’ standards

• Demonstrate good behaviour management skills.

• Have high expectations of pupils’ attainment, progress and behaviour

• Have strong digital skills – for enhancing learning and work efficiency

• Work effectively as part of a team, building positive relationships with colleagues

• Plan effectively and be sensitive to the learning needs of pupils of different abilities

• Regularly assesses pupils’ work formally and informally, using Assessment for Learning strategies

• Have verbal and written communication skills and able to in deal with pupils, parents and external agencies

• Be enthusiastic, innovative and creative with a commitment to the extra-curricular life of the school

• Have a good sense of humour
