We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Steve Dixon as the permanent Headmaster of the Royal Hospital School.
Earlier this year, Inspired Learning Group (ILG), in partnership with the school and governing body, undertook a comprehensive and rigorous recruitment process to identify the next headmaster for RHS. Following careful consideration, it was agreed that none of the candidates fully reflected the exceptionally high standards and vision we believe the school deserves for this important leadership role. During this period, we were grateful that Steve Dixon agreed to step into the role of acting headmaster, ensuring continuity, stability, and strong leadership for the school community.
As a highly respected and experienced member of the RHS senior leadership team, with more than 12 years of service as Second Master, Steve brought with him a deep understanding of the school, its values, and its community. Throughout his time as acting headmaster, he has demonstrated outstanding leadership, earning the confidence and support of pupils, parents, staff, and governors alike.
What has been particularly evident over recent months is Steve’s thoughtful and authentic approach to leadership, alongside his unwavering commitment to the well-being and success of the entire RHS community. His visible presence across the school, strong engagement with pupils and families, and clear strategic understanding of both the opportunities and challenges ahead have made a significant and lasting impact.
Having been part of the Royal Hospital School since 2013, Steve combines a genuine respect for the School’s rich heritage and traditions with a clear vision for its future development. As RHS continues to evolve as part of the ILG family of schools, we are confident that Steve is the right person to lead the School into its next chapter.
His appointment brings both continuity and momentum at an exciting time for RHS, and we look forward to working alongside him in continuing to strengthen and develop the school in the years ahead.
Please join us in congratulating Steve on his well-deserved appointment.
