Inspired Learning Group (ILG) is delighted to announce that Royal Hospital School (RHS), a prestigious HMC institution located in Suffolk, will be joining its growing portfolio of schools. This landmark addition represents a significant step change in ILG’s evolution as a leading provider of independent education in the UK and internationally.
Founded in 1712 by Greenwich Hospital, RHS has a remarkable 313-years history of delivering outstanding education to naval families and the wider community – a legacy that ILG is proud to honour and advance. Set on a breathtaking 200-acre Queen Anne-style campus overlooking the River Stour in Suffolk’s iconic Constable Country, RHS is renowned for its proud naval traditions and its vibrant, inclusive community. Generations of students have thrived in its seven boarding houses, benefitting from a rich heritage, a broad curriculum, and a commitment to nurturing every individual. As “The Cradle of the Navy,” RHS continues to inspire, innovate, and lead, shaping future leaders with integrity, resilience, and a global outlook.
The addition of RHS follows ILG’s recent acquisition of Clayesmore School in Dorset; its diversification into specialist education with Holme Court School, a standalone SEND setting in Cambridge; and its expansion of international provision. Together, these milestones mark a period of accelerated growth and diversification, strengthening ILG’s position as one of the most dynamic education groups in the sector.
Amit Mehta, Founder of Inspired Learning Group, said:
“The arrival of Royal Hospital School is a defining moment in ILG’s journey. It is a school of exceptional quality, with a proud heritage and values that align perfectly with our vision. Alongside recent developments — Clayesmore, Holme Court, this move demonstrates our commitment to scale with quality, diversify our provision, and secure long-term sustainability. We are honoured to build on Greenwich Hospital’s legacy and excited to invest in the school’s future. We have agreed measures to safeguard the school’s heritage and ongoing support for naval families.
Irfan Latif, Headmaster of Royal Hospital School, added:
“We are excited to join Inspired Learning Group at such a pivotal time in its growth. ILG’s commitment to educational excellence, investment in people and facilities, and sector expertise will allow us to build on our strong foundations while opening up new opportunities for our pupils, families, and staff. Our day-to-day‑ operations, leadership, and educational provision continue as normal, with planned investment in facilities and opportunities”
With this addition, Inspired Learning Group now educates more than 4,000 pupils across 31 schools and nurseries, reaffirming its strategy of combining heritage, innovation, and diversification to deliver long-term value in the independent education sector.
