ILG Music Festival

In May, a group of ILG schools came together for the second annual ILG Music Festival.

Held at St. Francis’ College in their West End style theatre, over 250 pupils from nine of ILG’s prep and senior schools were in attendance.  Each school choir had the opportunity to perform songs of their choice to the audience.

The day was a fantastic chance for the children to show what they had been working on throughout the year, with many selecting songs from their recent school productions.  It was wonderful to see all pupils perform with so much skill and confidence, and have children from different ILG schools come together to cheer on their peers.

Thank you to Mrs Mary-Ann Bland, Director of Music at St. Francis’ College, for organising the event!

Saint Felix School Swimming Achievements

Six pupils from Saint Felix School recently competed at the World Game Series (WGS) Swim Competition.

The competition hosted some of the world’s best swimmers and spanned over 2 days. Saint Felix returned with six gold medals and six silver medals between the participating pupils. Well done to everyone for this impressive outcome!

Derby Grammar School Cricket Tournament Success

Congratulations to the U11 cricket team at Derby Grammar School, who retained their Independent Schools Association  (ISA) U11 Cricket Champion Status in the recent ISA Cricket Champions.

Many pupils also achieved a range of titles throughout the day, including Alexander who won the ISA Midlands Top Batter Award, Morgan who won the ISA Midlands Top Bowler Award, and Akshat who won the ISA Most Accurate Throwing Award.

Well done to all who played throughout the tournament!

Sunninghill Sailing Win

The sailing team at Sunninghill Prep School recently had a successful day at the Millfield Sailing Regetta, hosted by Millfield School at Portland Harbour.

After collecting two gold medals and two bronze medals between the pupils, the team won the 1st place cup for the day.

Congratulations to the team for their fantastic win!

Mental Health Awareness Week

Many of our schools and nurseries recently observed Mental Health Awareness Week, and used the week as a valuable opportunity to educate pupils on the importance of mental health, and looking out for their peers.

Westbury House School held a whole-school assembly led by form teacher Miss Lowther, which taught the children the importance of breaking stigmas against mental health, and how to create a space of understanding and resilience within the school community.

Pupils at Essendene Lodge School had sessions throughout the week dedicated to learning about the importance of mental health. Pupils applied their learnings through making posters and selecting topics out of what they had been taught in these sessions.

Rookwood School ‘School Games’ Accolade

After four consecutive years of receiving the Gold Award by the School Games Sports Mark,  Rookwood School are proud to share that they have now achieved the highest award; the Platinum Sports Mark.

The School Games Mark is a government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and community.

As part of the application, Rookwood School focused on offering opportunities for leadership and character development within physical education, as well as showcasing their commitment to ensuring physical activity and competition provision at the school is designed to reflect the motivation, competence and confidence of each pupil.

A special well done to Mr Mills, Head of Sports at Rookwood, and Mr Brewer, Mrs Kerrison and Mr Few, for their hard work and dedication to all students in PE across the school.

Malawi Golf Fundraiser

As part of ILG’s ongoing fundraising for our partner school in Malawi, The Msalura School, Essendene Lodge School recently hosted a charity golf day and dinner at Woldingham Golf Course.

25 staff members from ILG’s Head Office and various schools were in attendance, alongside many parents of our pupils. The day proved to be a great success and has raised over £2000.

Thank you to the team at Essendene Lodge School for arranging this event! Read more about our Malawi partnership here.
